* 17 NEW DATES FOR 2017 *

Tickets are now on sale for Season Two of the spectacular live action show ‘Kynren – An Epic Tale of England’. Opening night is 1st July 2017 with a total of 17 limited performances through to mid-September.  The show is under the new creative leadership of director Steve Boyd.  A veteran mass choreographer for multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games ceremonies (London 2012, Glasgow 2014, Rio 2016), Boyd is hard at work on plans to build on the success of Season One and make every aspect of the show ‘Bigger, Better & Brighter’.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham, the 90-minute show takes each 8,000-strong audience on a visually stunning journey through 2,000 years of British history, myth and legend.

Crammed with special effects that bring the show’s scenes to life with thrilling visual impact, audiences will be transported from Roman times through to the Second World War, encountering Viking and Norman invasions, mediaeval feasts to the splendour of the Tudors, the Industrial Revolution and the Roaring Twenties along the way.

In 2017, there will be a much larger cast and crew to add to the visual splendour and scale. This season will involve 1,500 volunteers who will be joined on stage by a supporting cast of performance horses, sheep, goats, cattle, geese and ducks, plus life-size replicas of Norman longboats, steam trains, wagons and carriages. The volunteers will be professionally trained by top performance experts in dance, theatrical combat, guest management, pyrotechnics, and cavalry to create a world-class entertainment.

The show is set to an evocative sound track composed by Nathan Stornetta, the award-winning screen composer who, since studying his craft at the Royal College of Music, has collaborated on several movies with Hollywood greats such as Hans Zimmer, whom Nathan joined on his live tour of Europe last summer.

For a taste of what to expect, a new trailer has been created using footage from Season One.

Kynren has just been named 'Performance of the Year' at the Living North Awards. Described as ‘a fitting tribute to the extraordinary history of our region’ and ‘a symbol of what can be achieved with vision, ambition and investment’, Kynren fought off competition from 11 other nominees to claim the prize.

Anne-Isabelle Daulon, Chief Executive Officer said: “We are delighted that Kynren has received the prestigious Living North award for 'Performance of the Year'. It is testament to the world-class quality production that the Eleven Arches team and our dedicated volunteers have produced. We look forward to welcoming even more visitors in 2017 to experience our spectacular show, and encouraging them to discover everything the North East has to offer while they are in the region.”

On the back of the phenomenal success of the first season, which saw more than 100,000 visitors experience the show and superb TripAdvisor ratings, 2017 will see an increased number of dates to accommodate the anticipated level of demand, and improved logistics infrastructure to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Ticket prices are unchanged from 2016, with adult tickets from £25-£55 for adults and children from £19-£41.
